![]() | A New SRM Integrated With Wheel And Its Application In EV
By Hiroki Goto, Hai-Jiao Guo, Tadaaki Watanabe, Osamu Ichinokura
Abstract: New switched reluctance motors (SRMs) that outer-rotor is integrated with wheel have been designed, and applied to an electric vehicle (EV). The motors are put in two rear wheels without any gears, and driven directly. The SRM is simple and low cost, thus it is powerful candidate for future EV.

![]() | Bridging The Gaps And Overcoming The Discrepancies Between Electrotechnical Standardization, General Standardization And Regulation: An Ongoing Challenge
By Van Den Bossche Peter, Van Mierlo Joeri, Maggetto Gaston
Abstract: The electrotechnical industry has a strong tradition of
standardization which has given rise to a specific culture and
approach to standardization matters. For practical and historical
reasons, different traditions are present in the automotive
industry. In the case of the electrically propelled vehicle (this
term encompasses battery-electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles),
where automotive and electrical technologies meet, special
considerations had to be taken to come to an efficient
standardization scene; the interaction with vehicle regulations
has also to be taken into account here. This paper gives an
overview of the evolution in this domain [1], with a view towards
further developments such as new drive train topologies and fuel
cells.

![]() | Energy For Future Land Transport System The Role Of Power Electronics
By Maggetto Gaston, Van Mierlo Joeri, Van Den Bossche Peter
Abstract: For land transport, electric-, hybrid- and fuel cell
drive systems are an important factor of traffic improvement
and of creation of a better environment.
The end of the cheap oil era is nearing rapidly ; numerous
publications state the 2030’s as possible period with in the
meantime a breakeven between demand and offer that could
take place around 2010-2015. Today’s geopolitical tensions are
probably connected with this future evolution.
The need for alternative energy sources is steadily increasing
together with a better competitively status compared to oil.
Electric-, hybrid-, and fuel cell vehicle are offering the best
possibilities for their use, this most probably on the one side in
conjunction with the dual energy vectors, hydrogen and
electricity and on the other side thanks to the important
reduction of energy consumption connected with thermal
hybrid-electric vehicles. Power electronics is playing a major
role in achieving the best energy economy.

![]() | IPMSM Control For Electric Vehicle With Separate Wheel Drives
By Miroslaw Mizan | |
Abstract: Structure and control algorithms of the control system
for an electric vehicle with separate wheel drives with IPMSM
motors are proposed. The control system consists of a MASTER
controller, dedicated for traction control, and separate SLAVE
controllers, designed for motor control. The implementation of
FOC algorithm in DSP microcontroller and problems of identification
of motor parameters are described.

![]() | Modular Control System For D. C. Vehicle Drive
By Florin Bozas, Emil Tudor, Sergiu Gheorghe, Adrian Dascalu, Doru Braslasu
Abstract: The paper describes the architecture and data
communication protocol of a modular microcontroller system
intended for controlling direct current vehicle drives. Under
the supervision of a MASTER controller different logic units
are grouped in one of two ways: bulk or distributed system.
The bulk approach uses parallel data, address and control
buses on a back-plane for the control data and serial
asynchronous data link for the local display unit and/or the
diagnose DCSoft PC program. In a distributed system data
exchange between MASTER and SLAVE controllers takes
place over the serial asynchronous link together with status
and diagnose data.
