![]() | A New Braking Control Strategy for Switched Reluctance Motor Drive
By Chen H., Zhang C. | |
Abstract: The paper gives the principles of the pulse width modulation (PWM) braking control strategy for Switched Reluctance motor drive with fixed the turn-on angle and the turn-off angle of the main switches. The expression of the average braking torque is given in the unsaturated motor magnetic field model. The energy analysis during the energizing period and the commutating period are made. The peak value of the phase current and their rotor position are also analyzed. A three-phase 6/4 structure prototype and a four-phase 8/6 structure prototype with PWM braking control are intro-duced, and the calculated and tested results are given.

![]() | Numerical Calculations of Sensitivity Functions of Synchronous Motor on the Variations of the Electrical Circuit Parameters
By Glowacz Z., Jaracz K.
Abstract: The mathematical model of synchronous motor in Park's coordinates (0, d, q) with Laible's parameters is the basis for considerations. Sensitivity functions of variables states of synchronous motor (magnetic fluxes, angular velocity, angular position) on the variations of Laible's parameters have been defined. After differentiation of the mathematical model equations in relation to electrical circuits parameters and taking into account the proper continuity conditions, the associated model of the sensitivity of the considered machine is created. The algorithms for numerical calculations of sensisivity functions has been constructed. The sensitivity functions and numerical results of calculations are presented in the paper.

![]() | Performances of Reluctance Synchronous Motor with Axially Laminated Rotor
By Hrabovcová V., Lièko M., Mihok J.*, Rafajdus P., Janoušek L.**
Abstract: The paper deals with performances of reluctance synchronous motor (RSM). It is shown that RSM with axially laminated rotor achieves higher Ld /Lq ratio, what can predict the higher quality paramenters. The influence of geometrical dimensions of the axially laminated rotor on its parameters is presented and concrete configuration is justified. Performances in no-load and full-load conditions are shown, discussed and compared with the classical radially laminated rotor RSM.

![]() | Simple Average Torque Estimation for Control of Switched Reluctance Machines
By Inderka R.B., De Doncker R.W.
Abstract: A simple method to estimate the average electromagnetic torque of switched reluctance machines in real time is developed. In addition to estimating torque the energy ratio can also be measured. The estimation technique is realized by integrating the product of phase current and phase voltage. Therefore, the developed technique is directly applicable to machines of any size and configuration because no knowledge regarding the magnetic characteristic is necessary while magnetic saturation is taken into account. Experimental results of the estimation technique are presented and analyzed. With information of the actual average torque or the energy ratio a closed-loop control can be implemented. The SRM control which is developed for an electric-vehicle traction includes the presented average torque estimation. Furthermore, simulation results of the control are discussed.

![]() | Simulation of the Switched Reluctance Motor Speed Control
By Piskaè L. | |
Abstract: This paper deals with the switched reluctance motor (SRM) speed control simulation. On the basis of fundamental equations a model is developed which uses fuzzy estimator of the stator inductance and fuzzy estimator for the excitation factor. Belonging to the important parts of the block scheme are speed/position and correction logic blocks. For making acquainting with the SRM behavior the Matlab-Simulink environment model was exploited. The presented type of the SRM control was not destined to a detailed solution of electromagnetic transients and therefore it is suited to improve a rough review which can be useful for the experimental works.

![]() | SV Analysis of Saliency Torque of Permanent Magnet Excited Synchronous Motor
By Yamamura S. | |
Abstract: The permanent magnet excited synchronous motor is expanding its usages considerably. It has strong and peculiar saliency of magnetic poles, which causes peculiar torque characteristics. The conventional theories, such as the two reaction theory and the two axis theory are based on the d, q axis method. Although they have been resorted to for a long time, their derivation of the circuit equation is not logical and it seems that they involve approximation and even errors. The author applied the spiral vector method (SV method) to analysis of PMSM and derived the new circuit, equations of PMSM, whose solutions revealed new aspect of performances of PMSM [1, 2, 6]. This paper reports further developments of SV theory of PMSM; one of them is a new V-curve of PMSM. It is quite different from the V - curve of the conventional theories, and is much more useful.

![]() | The Refined Model of Synchronous Machine for Harmonic Flow Analysis
By Pavloviæ L.*, Petroviæ D.**, Lazareviæ Z.**, Janda Ž.***
Abstract: The paper presents a full model of the synchronous machine eligible for harmonic propagation analysis. It appears necessary to introduce a complex model and impossible to make the above analyses using subtransient reactance only. The presented model takes into account cross influence of the 6N-1 and 6N+1 order harmonics. Such a model of the synchronous machine is required to analyze voltage distortion problems occurring mostly when nonlinear load is supplied from an emergency standby generator.
