Abstract: A power system will be investigated theoretically. This power-systems are more and more loaded by controlled rectifiers. Power-factor control using capacitor batteries are commonly used to keep the reactive power on a low level. The current harmonics created by tl1e rectifier units can give a lot of problems. Some real measurements show that all difficulties can be located by special voltage and current measurements. Also the calculation of the total power can give some additional information about unsymmetry of the whole system. The situation of controlled rectifiers in such power system together with a phase control using capacitors introduce resonance circuits together with leakage reactances of transfom1er or generators for the higher current harmonics. The occuring resonance rise belongs to the load situation in this moment. Measuring device and all additional calculations will be explained together with the developed results.

Abstract: Main causes of failures and undesirable modes of operation have been defined on the basis of analysis of operational modes for more than 40 multimotor belt conveyors. An algorithm for the belt conveyor electric drive selection and designing, included in the standard, has been proposed.

Abstract: Today exciter supervisor system can be implemented by general purpose standard hardware. Two of the vantages are to have a large range of low cost components on the market and to make easier the implementation of communications with other company systems, as for instance with a high level supervisor system. The system dealt with is composed by two VME systems. These exchange remote I/0 by a distributed smart I/0. General purpose boards manage the communication with a high level supervisor system by ETHERNET network.

Abstract: This paper describes several aspects of the research effort in the field of mains protection. It presents a methodology leading to implement artificial intelligence systems into a safety equipment. It describes the various means to detect undesirable faults and illustrates different ways to extract the required information for load recognition. A specific application of the process for residential loads or office appliances is then proposed. It consists in a load recognition device, acting under safety conditions, and using simple means.
