An Analog and a DSP-Based Controllers for Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives

Abstract: This contribution presents two controllers for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. The low-cost analog controller, containing also discrete components, implements the control of the motor current. In order to obtain the better drive performance, especially to reduce the torque ripple, the controller based on the digital signal processor (DSP) has been developed. It implements the torque control using the field-oriented control (FOC) method. Both control circuits have been examined, and the results are shown to demonstrate the improvement of the dynamic behavior of the motor. Some software problems, e.g. synchronization of the different control tasks, are discussed.

Abstract: The paper deals with application of Kalman- and extended Kalman filter in direct torque control of induction motor drive. In this approach the Kalman filter is used as a predictive computing block for estimation of rotor current, rotor flux and rotor speed. The extended Kalman filter has been used for providing the estimation of rotor resistance changes. Simula-tion experiments of the real- (that means computed from the complete dynamic state model) and the estimated by Kalman filter time waveforms of quantities have shown good accordance.

Abstract: Today's power electronics and motion control applications require flexible and efficient hardware platform supported by advanced software solutions. The paper presents the new architecture of DLH motion and power converter controllers based on the digital signal processors (DSP) and complex programmable logic devices (CPLD). The flexibility and computational power of the DLH controllers family meet in real time the sophisticated signal processing requirements of modern control algorithms and strategies (e.g. vector control, DTC, fuzzy logic and neuro-fuzzy controllers, estimators, observers)

Abstract: In the paper a problem of rotor speed and position detection for sensorless PMSM drive was analysed. The concept based on detecting back EMF, induced in the stator windings, was in the paper developed and modified. Some general structure of observer was introduced. This structure describes observers with more complex function of corrector like proportional-integral or sliding mode correction. Simulation results showed robustness of proposed observer against inaccuracy of motor parameter identification.
