Abstract: Electrical drives are largely used in machine-tools. The connection between the electrical machine and the mechanical load is effected by different transmission devices, i.e. worm screws, gear-boxes, belts. The performance of the drive is significantly influenced by variation of the loop gain, friction and elasticity. The control strategy is generally designed by considering an ideal load in which friction and elasticity are negligible. This condition is attained by an appropriate maintenance. During the operation of the machine-tool loop gain, friction and elasticity vary. Therefore the performance of the drive is degradated. An alternative approach to a preventive maintenance consists in measuring the machine tool performance by suitable tests for detecting specific maintenance necessity. These tests can be effected periodically during the non-operation time intervals of the machine-tool. The paper presents a first approach to this problem and suggests a procedure for detecting the relevance of the decreasing of the loop-gain, the increasing of the friction, the modification of the elasticity.

Abstract: The paper suggests an application of expert system to power electronic circuit design, and discuss about the fundamental matters on the system. The necessity of the expert system to power electronics are considered from the point of view of engineering. It designated that structure and characteristic of the expert system of power electronics circuit design. Numerical calculation mechanism, figure transaction mechanism is added to conventional expert system. An expert system is made for high-frequency inverter circuit design using a marketing software on a engineering workstation.

Abstract: This paper deals with the family of controllers which consider the inverter fed asynchronous drives as a discrete system in which the configuration is changeable at discrete time intervals (in relation both to the maximum commutation frequency of the valves and the computing time required in order to define the commands). In order to analyse and improve the performance of this family of controllers, this paper proposes and presents the development of a direct self-controller implemented by means of an expert system. The authors believe that this could be a way to study the decision mechanisms and to integrate all the intelligent onboard devices used for controlling, monitoring and diagnostics.
