Abstract: In this paper, a bidirectional V2G EV charging station is proposed. It features adaptive droop-based grid frequency regulation with changing load demands. Additionally, it serves as a DSTATCOM, making the grid currents balanced, sinusoidal and having unity power factor, using instantaneous symmetrical component theory. Furthermore, it has a unique power-sharing algorithm for connected EVs, taking into account the safe limits for charging and discharging currents. The algorithm allows EV owners to choose between strictly charging mode or V2G mode with the ability to decide the minimum SoC level desired for their EV as a reserve for contingencies. The validation of the above-mentioned features has been shown with the help of different scenarios simulated in the MATLAB-Simulink environment.

Abstract: The control role of power converters conforming an HVDC link is generally static, i.e. changing the control role of the power converters is not considered in the power system operation. In this paper a lab-scaled demonstration on the control role reconfiguration while an AC/DC/AC link is in operation is presented.

Abstract: In this research work, a modeling and control technique for a two-stage DC charger module is described with relevant dynamic equations and transfer functions. The simulation study and real-time testing of charging (G2V) and discharging (V2G) operation for a medium-duty electric vehicle with Combo CCS type 2 connector port is also performed. It is investigated that the power transfer efficiency for V2G operation using the Combo CCS Type 2 connector reaches approximately 94\% for 4.8kW and 83\% for 3kW. It is also found that higher power charging and V2G operations shows lower Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). For instance, during a power transfer of 5.1kW back to the grid at 60\% State of Charge (SoC), the current THD is observed to be 3.12\%. In contrast, the THD during charging mode is measured at 2.42\%. These results highlight the improved quality of power during high-power charging and V2G operations, indicating reduced harmonic content and enhanced grid stability.
