![]() | A Hybrid Pulse Width Modulation Technique with Temperature Control for Modular Multilevel Converters
By Ara BISSAL | |
Abstract: Temperature control was integrated to an experimentally verified hybrid modulation scheme driving a modular multilevel converter. It was shown that it has 11\% lower total harmonic distortion and 16\% lower losses in comparison with the phase shifted carrier methodology while maintaining a temperature difference of 1_C.

![]() | Operation of an Externally Excited Synchronous Machine with a Hybrid Multilevel Inverter
By Christoph TERBRACK | |
Abstract: An innovative hybrid multilevel inverter is proposed which is able to deliver a separate DC voltage while a three-phase system is provided. The voltages are independently, but delivered by shared battery cells. The new system operates an electrically excited synchronous machine's rotor and stator current circuit in a vehicle drivetrain.

![]() | Reduced Capacitor Size and On-State Losses in Advanced MMC Submodule Topologies
By Christopher DAHMEN | |
Abstract: Progress of high power Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) is of prime importance for many future applications [1]-[5]. Further reduction of power losses and smaller footprint of the converters requires advanced submodule topologies, well adapted to SiC-power semiconductors and the operating conditions in MMC. The high potential of these measures is investigated and explained using analytical methods - providing general insight. Numerical results, based on commerciallyavailable Si- and SiC-modules are presented, demonstrating the essential improvements compared to the state-of-the-art.

By Duro BASIC | |
Abstract: This paper presents a seamless integration of the feed-forward and feedback controls of balance ofaverage arm capacitor dc bus voltages in the star and delta connected STATCOM converters, based onchain links of H bridge cells/modules, which are operated in general imbalanced situations.
