![]() | Analysis on the increased losses in supply systems due to voltage drop and voltage distortion

Abstract: Non linear load currents generate increased losses in supply system elements, such as transformers, cables, capacitor banks, harmonic filters etc. Due to the interaction between these elements through grid impedance and voltage distortion, it is not sufficient to consider the losses in the separate elements to optimise the energy efficiency of the entire supply system. Only the overall energy loss of the supply system is of interest. A simulation tool is developed and used to compare supply system configurations, with respect to total losses.

Abstract: In this paper a novel and high efficiency conversion system based on a Supercapacitor Recover System (SRS) and a Power Factor Correction circuit (PFC) is proposed and tested. It allows to greatly improve the performances of motion systems for residential application, such as elevators, both in terms of energy efficiency and power demand, allowing the compliance with the recents international standards on power quality.

Abstract: A design has been made of a low stand by power oscillator, which can be used off a rectified 230V grid. Stand by powers lower than 0.2W are obtained. The oscillating mode is obtained using the capacitance of the power MOSFET. The supply operates at a wide input voltage range.
