![]() | A System for Education of Wind Power at the University of Vaasa
By B. Brännbacka; T. Vekara | |
Abstract: This paper describes a system for education and research of wind power, which has recently been constructed at the campus of the University of Vaasa on the western coast of Finland. The system consists of two, small vertical-axis Windside wind turbines, which have been erected on the roof of the tallest building at a hight of some 30 meters above sea level. The swept area of the turbines is about 0.3 m², and they are used for charging batteries. Additionally, inside Technobothnia laboratory a similar permanent magnet generator drive is not only charging batteries, but also the energy of batteries is to feed a three-phase grid. Furthermore, two fixed systems for weather measurements and two mobile systems for wind measurements are provided.
