Abstract: In a converter fed motor, one of the very hard problem is to survey the electromechanical function in order to detect malfunction due to even electromagnetical or mechanical failure or damage. In this purpose, we are investigating virtual instrumentation concept for the fault detection and location on electrical drives.

Abstract: This paper presents selected features of Virtual Instruments for the acquisition, preparation, analysis and graphic representation of measuring data for different measuring tasks on power electronics by using the graphic programming system LabVIEW. In particular Virtual Instruments for converter output characteristics, dynamic parameters of power electronic devices, network analysis, space vectors and a postprocessor are described. All existing programmed Virtual Instruments, which are components of a symbolic library « Power Electronics » are finally listed.
