Abstract: Acoustic noise from watercraft can have harmfull effects on marine wildlife. In this paper, a pressure resistant 5kVA inverter is presented. Hydro-noise emissions and spectra are measured and analyzed. The noise is matched to the electric components where the switching behavior is dominating. Measurements with different operating points are conducted and their impact on the noise spectra shown. But also unexpected noise sources from auxiliary DC/DC-converters were determined.
