Abstract: Harmonic distorsion in electricity-networks caused by electronic convertors consists of lower harmonics and commutation vibrations. Each type of polution has his own propagation and his own influence on network-elements. The lower harmonics will be influenced by the type of convertor (3-phase or 6-phase bridge) commutation reactance, asymmetrical control, interrupted DC-current, the type of load, which can be: DC-motor, DC-traction-network, current-invertor, voltage-invertor. I have participated in a lot of measurements to verify and to modify the theory. The measurements consist harmonic network impedances and harmonic distorsion of convertors under various conditions including ripple-control-apparatus.

Abstract: Static inverters, converting variable DC voltage into fixed single or three phase AC voltage are often used in UPS sets, on-board AC supplies for ships and aircraft, and high speed motor drives. Specification just by kVA rating and power factor not fully exploits the inverter's capabilities. Specific boundaries can be drawn in the kW-kVAr plane to show more exactly these capabilities under full or limited performance conditions. Such boundaries are imposed by thermal limits, the input DC voltage range, the allowed output harmonics, or commutation mechanisms. This paper qives some guidelines in calculation of kW-kVAr boundaries for single phase or three phase constant output voltage inverters.

Abstract: The absorption of electromagnetic energy in biological tissues becomes a problem of basic importance in many branches of the industry, including power electronics. The correct biophysical estimation of the electromagnetic fields influence should permit to understand the mechanisms of the absorption of electromagnetic energy from human body as well as to develop safety conditions for every particular technology. A review of the biophysical experiments directed to clarify this problem is presented. The effects of electromagnetic field influence on different level of organization of the biological matter from organism to subcellular level are discussed.
