![]() | A Modified State-Plane Control of a Bi-directional Series Resonant Converter for an EDLC Energy Storage System in Hybrid Electric Vehicles
By Ricardo BARRERO, Omar HEGAZY, Philippe LATAIRE, Joeri VAN MIERLO, Thierry COOSEMANS
Abstract: The state-plane control consists on making use of the state-plane to monitor the resonant tank variables in the Series Resonant Converter (SRC). Based on this technique, this article will propose and analyze a novel control strategy that is able to step up and down the voltage in a SRC. Both analytical and simulation results are provided with and without a high frequency transformer.

![]() | A Novel Single-Switch Cascaded DC-DC Converter of Boost and Buck-Boost Converters
By Jian FU, Bo ZHANG, Dongyuan QIU
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel single-switch dc-dc converter with voltage gain D/(1-D)2 by cascading aBoost converter and a Buck-boost converter. The proposed converter has the advantages of simplecircuit structure and extended voltage conversion ratio. The operating principle and steady-stateanalysis of the proposed converter are discussed in detail. Finally, a prototype is implemented to verifytheoretical analysis.

![]() | Delay time Compensation for Parallel Connected IGBTs: Implementation and Extension for n IGBTs
By Rodrigo ALVAREZ, Steffen BERNET, Ignacio LIZAMA
Abstract: The increasing demand for large power ratings and the physically limited maximum current density of semiconductor devices in power electronics make the connection of semiconductors in parallel or series an interesting alternative for high power applications. The selection of the devices, the manual parameterization of gate units and the substantial device de-rating are important disadvantages of state of the art converters with parallel connected IGBTs.A new, low expensive and automated delay time compensation method without additional current measurements was introduced in the ECCE 2011.This paper reviews the structure and function of this new scheme and presents details of the implementation challenges for this solution. Furthermore, it shows the extension of the scheme for n parallel connected IGBTs or other semiconductors. It also experimentally investigates the performance of the implemented algorithm and its issues in a 690V converter with three parallel connected IGBTs.

![]() | Modular Resonant Converter for 25kV-8A Power Supply: Design, Implementation and Real Time Simulation
By Daniel SIEMASZKO, Louis DE MALLAC, Serge PITTET, Davide AGUGLIA
Abstract: This paper describes the design of a 300kW modular resonant power converter for an application in particle accelerators. The aim of the power supply is to provide a so-called RF cavity with 25kV DC voltage and a current up to 8A. Modular approach is chosen for redundancy and availability. Each module is composed of a resonant tank with a step-up MF-transformer with its secondary windings put is series for reaching higher voltages. Full gain is ensured in the full operation frequency range considering component value inaccuracies and ageing of capacitors. The design of the resonant tank is detailed with its dimensioning and integration issues. Hardware in the loop validation of two control methods is done on one 100kW module to prepare experimental validation of a single module before implementing the full system.
