![]() | Multi-Generator System Modelling Based on Dynamic Phasor Concept
By Tao YANG, Serhiy BOZHKO, Greg ASHER
Abstract: The more-electric aircraft (MEA) is one major trend for future aircraft. With increased number of power electronic converters (PECs) and electrical loads, the system performance and the power management for on board electrical loads are therefore key issues and need to be addressed during the design process. The increased amount of PECs makes the conventional simulation of a total electrical power system (EPS) impractical. This is because the switching behaviour of PECs results in enormous computation time and even numerical non-convergence. Fast and accurate simulation models thus have to be developed in order to study the EPS architectures at early design stages. The dynamic phasor (DP) modelling technique has been identified as an efficient method and widely used in modelling EPS’s. This paper extends the DP concept to multi-generator, multi-frequency system studies. Simulation results demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the developed DP model. The work of this paper enables wider applications of DP techniques for system level studies.

By Jean-Charles SWIERCZEK, Fabien MOLLET, Benoit MICHAUD, Regis MEURET, Christophe SAUDEMONT, Benoit ROBYNS
Abstract: The growing demand of electrical power in More Electrical Aircraft network leads designers to reviewnetwork topologies towards new architectures with reversible HVDC network including energy storagedevice such as supercapacitors. This paper deals with the simulation analysis and protection issues of such a network under short-circuit fault operating conditions.
