![]() | E-Laboratory in the Field of Electrical Drives
By H. Hõimoja, A. Rosin, T. Möller and M. Müür
Abstract: Modern information and communication technologies have changed the concept of conducting laboratory experiments and learning the theories behind them. New terms like "distant learning", "remote laboratories", "virtual learning environments" etc have emerged. To follow the mainstream and improve practical aspects of given education, the TUT has started designing its own remotely controlled electrical drives laboratories where students can make experiments on real objects. Designing a remote laboratory presumes finding solutions to problems regarding technical, didactic, security and financial requirements as well as the integration into a wider distant learning environment. These requirements give a basis for laboratory structures and methodology.

![]() | Laboratory Setup for Studying Ultracapacitors in Industrial Applications
By I. Roasto | |
Abstract: An innovative teaching topic of ultracapacitors was worked out in Tallinn University of Technology. For that purpose, a special test bench was built and tested. The test bench has been designed in view of student's safety and includes numerous protections. This paper describes the structure of the test bench and explains the working principles of different components. To demonstrate and test the functionality of the test bench, three tests were made: charging, discharging, and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) mode.

![]() | Synchronous Machine Direct Axis Parameters Estimation Module from an Iterative Strategy
By Emile Mouni, Slim Tnani and Gérard Champenois
Abstract: In this paper, an original method of facilitating the synchronous generator parameters estimation, is proposed. This new method, based on the IEEE standards, makes the parameters calculation as easy as the data filling. It consists in an interface, the function of which is to allows the user to be free of the design algorithm complexity. The experimental results are very satisfactory and the usefulness of such an interface is presented at the end of the paper.
