Abstract: LEM is active in current and voltage measurements, for frequencies ranging from DC up to several kilohertz. For its voltage transducers, LEM provides solutions ensuring a galvanic insulation of several kilovolts between the primary (connection point of the signal to be measured) and the secondary (restitution point of the measurement signal). Several technologies are used by LEM. Let us mention mainly the closed loop Hall effect transducer technology (LV family) as well as, more recently, a technology based on the use of insulation amplifiers (AV family) which permits voltage measurements up to 2000 Volts. LEM also uses a technology based on a flux gate, for transducers providing higher dynamic and accuracy performances. LEM is presently able to offer a new measuring concept (OPTILEM) by way of the OV 4200, the insulation of which is ensured by optical fibres.

Abstract: The paper describes a new and simplified framework for monitoring of system performance using an intelligent current measuring transducer. The objective is to provide an independent system that can be added as a retrofit. Building the measurement and intelligence into the transducer minimises the requirement for sophisticated control and monitoring systems.
