Railway grid interaction is a major concern when developing the power chain of a railway traction vehicle and its control. Especially line-current harmonics and grid stability have to be considered. Developing an optimised control scheme for the four-quadrant line-side converter of a railway traction vehicle operating at the 15-kV, 16.7-Hz grid requires advanced simulation tools, combined with suitable laboratory experiments for verification. This paper describes the simulation concept, the control structure, the realisation of a four-quadrant line-side converter test bench and measurement results for stationary and dynamic behaviour, verifying excellent operation. |
