 Abstract   The paper deals with the problem of robust speed and position control of electrical servo-drives. A robust speed controller is developed using a non-linear PI controller. The controller's non-linear characteristic is obtained by applying computational intelligence methods such as fuzzy logic or neuro techniques. Simulations and laboratory results validate the robustness of a servo-drive with a PMSM
