Abstract   This paper analyses a two switch buck+boost Power-Factor-Correction (pfc) recti er used in a low cost Pulse- Amplitude-Modulated (PAM) induction motor drive. Emphasis is placed on the control structure of the current shaping loop of the recti er part of the motor drive. The buck+boost converter operates either as a buck converter or as a boost converter. By introducing simple feed forward of duty cycles and introducing online gain scheduling, only one current shaping controller with constant controller parameters is needed in both converter op- erating modes. These modi cations decrease the demands to the current controller signi cantly and they yield better current shaping performance than a conventional current control. This new control structure is simple and easy to implement in a low cost motor drive. The analysis is performed analytical and is documented by simulations.
