Abstract |
Today¡¦s powerful computers and programs provide many
useful and cost effective solutions in the design flow of
switch mode power supplies (SMPS). Somehow it still seems
that design engineers in the industry are frightened of these
new possibilities and the design of a new product is made
¡§the familiar way like in the 70¡¦s¡¨. Two different kinds of
simulation approaches are presented in this paper. An
example design procedure of AC/DC SMPS is made with a
system level simulator, MathWorks MATLABÆÊ and
SimulinkÆÊ. Also some circuit level simulation is made with
OrCAD PSpiceÆÊ and comparison of main differences and
problems in different types of simulation tools is made. The
accuracy of the simulation results and applied models is
compared with measurements made with the prototype. |
