Abstract |
In Tampere University of Technology a variable speed wind
energy system has been planned and constructed, in which
the generator can be directly connected to the wind turbine
without a gearbox by using a pulse-width modulated current-
source converter (PWM-CSC). This paper presents the
experimental results of the 100 kW PWM-CSC operation in
a variable speed wind energy drive. The functioning of the
whole system was tested in laboratory conditions using an
asynchronous motor with chain gearing and a frequency
converter instead of a wind turbine. In addition to the efficiency,
nonharmonic line current components caused by the
6-pulse diode rectifier were also studied. |
