Abstract |
The steady-state characteristics of a novel brushless doubly-fed induction generator system proposed by the present authors are discussed in comparison with those of two conventional systems: (a) a doubly-fed induction generator equiped with brushes and slip-rings, and (b) a brushless doubly-fed induction generator without using a harmonic current reducing means. The simulation results show that the proposed generation system can provide a reasonably good efficiency and less-distorted input-currents, but it has a poor input-power factor. Therefore, it can be put into practical use when its input power factor is improved by suitable means such as a line-side PWM inverter or static capacitors. |
