Abstract   The grid voltage impact by a 5 * 0.5 MW sea-based wind park on a weak grid has been investigated. Converters with a rated power of half of the wind turbine rating are used in this park in order to reduce the flicker contribution of the wind turbines. The results show that the flicker reduction works very well and no major power quality disturbances occur on the grid, although the grid is very weak. In fact, the only limit to install further wind turbines on this grid is that the lines would be overheated, i.e. the same limit as with any other energy generating units.
