Abstract   This paper presents a complete averaged dynamic model for the single-magnetic push-pull forward converter, including parasitic elements. The single magnetic push-pull forward converter is a suitable topology to supply high-performance microprocessors from a high-voltage distribution bus. A good agreement between the waveforms generated by the converter topology (with specific models supplied by manufacturers) and the averaged model using PSPICE is observed. The proposed averaged model describes accurately the low-frequency behaviour and constitutes a necessary initial step toward the conception of control design strategies for this switching converter. The averaged dynamic model is simple and has a reduced order, so therefore it is an appropriate tool to predict transient and steady-state responses, to gain insight about the power processing mechanism, and to evaluate control architectures in a given operating region. The model simulation of the push-pull forward converter constitutes a necessary initial step toward the conception of control design strategies for this promising switching converter.
