Abstract	The paper deals with a surge voltage generator design compliant with the telecommunication equipment, surge test measurement routines. The operation is based on the Marx generator principle [1], however the system is fully semiconductor based. It includes a charging, switch mode power supply and an exclusive, thyristor surge discharge unit. Simulation and practical test results are presented and discussed.
