Abstract   This paper describes communications strategy used in distributed control system of Hybrid Power Generator (HYGEN’22). A variable-speed diesel-generator, energy storage device and power electronic converter are integrated into a compact power source [7]. An intelligent electric energy delivery system is realized through advanced multi-microcomputer control (DSP). The system’s ability to adapt to a wide range of operating conditions and load profiles, represents a quantum leap in generator technology - which minimizes fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, enhances engine life, and delivers high quality uninterruptible electric power. There are few subsystems which must interchange of information. Control hardware is realized by using TMS320LF2406 microcontrollers with CAN interface. CAN bus protocol, has been successful implemented for communications within the unit.
