Abstract   This paper presents the concept of dyamic damping of AC filter with the help of power electronics. From two industrial cases, (railways aplication and D-STATCOM applications) the dynamic damping is presented and extended to generalised AC filterings. It shows that the dynamic damping with the power electronics does not alter the filter's efficiency contrary to passive damping and the damping could be done with losses recovery thus with minimzing damping losses. The control of dynamic damping is also extended and the tuning of the AC filter could be automatically adjusted with the help of the voltage source converter. The paper present the concept of hybrid no resonant capacitor bank and hybrid dynamically damped low loss AC filter. Power electronics associated to AC fitler will bring the fucntions of damping with losses recovery and adjustment of the tuned frequency, giving birth to a new AC fitlering generation.
