 Abstract   The traction drive-train of rail vehicles consists of a flexiblemulti-inertia system subject to rubber aging and wheel wear. Forsystem monitoring purposes, those two effects are decoupledenabling precise estimation of the variable mechanical parameters,namely the rubber joint stiffness and the wheel disc radius, onthe basis of an identified modal three-inertia model.
