   Reactive power compensation in induction motor drive system based on sine-wave voltage source inverter   [View]

 Abstract   The paper describes the development of a sine-wave inverter for an AC induction motor drive application. It is shown that the proposed control method of the PWM inverter with the low-pass LC filter effectively reduces high frequency harmonics providing variable frequency and amplitude sinewave voltage to the motor terminals. The arrangement of the LC filter reduces also reactive power flow through the inverter demanded by the induction motor. Experimental verification of the sinewave voltage source inverter operation feeding 15kW laboratory drive system with the conventional cage induction motor is presented.
