This paper presents a consistent methodology to assess the effect of load on the converter dynamics to
obtain robust product quality. The proper formalism facilitating the analysis is derived using an
unterminated two-port model of a converter. It is shown that the open-loop output impedance behaves
as a weight either emphasizing or rejecting the load effects. Smooth loads with reasonable values have
insignificant effect on a properly designed converter. Loads with small overall impedance such as
storage battery or converters with input filter due to resonant peaking may reduce drastically the
voltage-loop control bandwidth, or increase the current-loop control bandwidth, respectively. |
