Abstract |
This paper proposes a world-wide switched-mode
power supply incorporating input power factor correction and
reduced voltage stresses. The converter has two independently
controlled switches with lower copper losses and smaller
magnetic size compared to the boost converter. The converter is
identified with switch stresses significantly smaller than in
cascaded buck-boost converters; despite that it has the
conversion characteristics of the buck-boost converter. The
converter has also the ability to arbitrarily choose the output dc
voltage without violating the power factor correction feature.
Simulation of the proposed switched-mode power supply is
carried out using PSPICE. The performance characteristics of a
100W prototype switched-mode power supply regarding
variation of power factor, efficiency and dc link voltage with
respect to input line voltage and output power are presented and
discussed. |
