Abstract   Asynchronous machines take a large place in industrial applications. It is necessary to ensure a high quality of the process in the whole. So, many researches deal with the diagnosis of induction motors. One of the widespread methods is the monitoring of the stator current. This one is named MCSA (Motor Current Signature Analysis). This approach is based on the two sideband current components near the frequency fundamental line which appear in case of rotor bar defects. As an incipient rotor fault detection is often necessary in some sensitive processes, we propose, in this paper, an approach using the analysis of the line-neutral voltage. It implies a star connection of the electrical motor. We make a spectral analysis of this voltage in case of one partial bar or one whole broken bar. The induction motor operates under several loads. Results of simulations and experimentations prove the efficient use of this approach proposed. This one is quite relevant in regard of the MCSA method.
