 Abstract   The quasi-steady state of magnetic field in the air gap of electrical machine is determined by time phases’ coincidence of all spatial harmonics of magnetic induction’s distribution in the air gap. The condition of magnetic field’s quasi-steady state is satisfied only by symmetric electrical machine working at no-load, the magnetic losses of which are equal to zero. The wave differential equation received from Maxwell’s equations is used for the calculation of nonstationary magnetic fields in the air gap of electrical machines.
