Abstract |
Position sensorless and smooth torque
control for a commercially available cage synchronous
reluctance machine is presented. A
transverse laminated rotor structure with squirrel
cage is easy to manufacture, can either be
fed with a voltage source inverter or can be connected
to the line. The contributions of this paper
are twofold. First a modified control structure
for a squirrel cage sychronous reluctance motor
is shown to achieve smooth torque production
at low speed. The squirrel cage synchronous reluctance
motor has been investigated in order to make
the work applicable to an industry standard type
of machine. Second, encoderless position estimation
using high frequency carrier signal injection
is shown. The estimation accuracy and dynamic
properties at low speed have been investigated. Experimental
results for robust position estimation of
a 4kW synchronous reluctance machine are given. |
