   Optimum Design Method For PM Motor From The Required Output NT Characteristics   [View]

 Abstract   Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has been widely used for the electric vehicle, the air compressor and so on. To use PMSM for the electric vehicle, the volume of it is very important, and more power and wider speed range are required. Though the inductance is very important parameter to realize the wider speed range, the design method of the inductance decided by the motor mechanical parameters D,L and so on has not been reported and the relationship between the inductance and the volume has not been cleared. In this paper, an optimum and an automatic design method for PMSM from the only required output characteristics is presented. This method is possible to obtain all motor mechanical parameters which realize minimum volume and which satisfy a maximum torque, speed, power and losses inputted by user. This paper clarified the relationship between the electrical parameters and the motor mechanical parameters, and this paper confirmed the output characteristics of the obtained motor by numerical simulation and Finite Element Method (FEM).
