Abstract |
This paper presents a simple active gate control
circuit for high-voltage IGBTs. By using active gate
control technique, IGBT can control voltage surge by
itself without snubber circuit. Therefore active gate
control can realize snubberless main circuit even for
high-voltage series connected converters. On the other
hand, active gate control has the problem of switching
loss of IGBT. Because the switching loss consumed by
snubber circuit will be consumed by IGBT in snubberless
main circuit. In this paper, the relation between turn-off
switching loss, dVce/dt and Rgoff is discussed.
Experimental results present good controllability of
proposed gate control circuit. |
