Abstract |
The design of a planar controlled-leakage-inductance
transformer for a resonant converter application is presented.
Transformer leakage inductance between loosely coupled
primary and secondary windings is controlled by means of a
magnetic shunt inserted between two planar E core halves. This
magnetic component combines the functions of a resonant
inductor and a transformer, and is investigated in an AC/DC
converter with a series resonant topology. The electrical
performance and power losses of the new integrated component
are compared with a discrete planar magnetics realization. A
comparison of commercial magnetic materials that are suitable
for use in the magnetic shunt is given, which emphasizes their
impact on total component losses. |
