 Abstract   Software tool for teaching Power Electronics and Electrical Drives is analysed from different points of view. The chosen SW contains not only possibilities of animation but also mathematical support enabling to develop mathematical algorithms. Effectiveness of e-learning is demonstrated on example of an electronic tap changer commutation method which is explained first with traditional method and for comparison with interactive animation (e-learning). In case when mathematical description of the system is too complicated, the interactivity is substituted by simple animation (pseudointeractivity). To facilitate development of the elearning educational modules with interactive features in case of complex non-linear and discrete dynamical systems, the used SW was completed by a simulation program algorithm. The effectiveness interactivity is presented on simple examples from field of electrical drives.
