Abstract   Shunt active filtering has a vital role in power quality improvement in utility and industry applications. It requires a high performance control strategy that can be used in real conditions. This paper presents a control method based on instantaneous power theory on a rotating reference frame. The method uses current vector components in a rotating frame for extracting reference compensation signals and modifying them for dc bus voltage regulation without need to a distinct synchronizing circuit. The proposed method can be used under balance and unbalance source voltages. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the control method.
