The overall aim with this paper is to compare two control algorithms used for energy management of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). The primary task of the Energy
Management (EM) algorithm is to distribute the power demand
between the Primary Power Unit (PPU) and the buffer. The EM
algorithm influences the obtained fuel consumption, component
wear and emissions. The realization of EM can vary strongly. This paper presents two possible approaches where one algorithm uses Fuzzy Logic (FL) and another is based on an analytic formula.
The conclusion is that the algorithm based on FL is more complex and thereby more difficult to adapt to a specific powertrain and transport task. The advantage with the FL
algorithm, compared to the algorithm based on an analytic
formula is that it is more flexible, i.e. it makes very few assumptions about the powertrain characteristics. |
