Abstract |
This paper presents a comparison of Full-Bridge and Boost DC/DC converter topologies regarding high-power applications to enable choosing the topology that is most suited for up scaling. Two different versions of the full-bridge converter are included in the comparison, with and without galvanic insulation. Size as an indication for costs is the property that is used for the comparison. They are represented by basic component parameters. Utilisation ratios of semiconductors, energy contents and rms currents of capacitors and area-products of magnetic components are compared. This comparisons show that Full-Bridge converter with galvanic insulation is preferable for high conversion ratios, unlike Full-Bridge without galvanic insulation and Boost converter for low conversion ratios. |
