 Abstract   The paper presents a three-phase, voltage source inverter designed for supplying induction motors of several kilowatts rated power. The basic component of the inverter power circuit is an intelligent power module PM15RSH120 of the Mitsubishi Electric manufacture, comprising seven IGBT transistors with gate drivers and protection system in an insulated package. The inverter control system with Intel 8051 microcontroller used as a supervisory controller and MA828-1 GEC Plessey Semiconductors PWM generator employed for three-phase voltage waveform generation has been described. Additional inverter protection systems and selected results of laboratory tests have been presented.
