 Abstract   This work addresses the problem of failure prediction in line-operated three-phase induction machine using electromagnetic signals spectral analysis. We study the detection of rotor imperfection by spectral analysis of the electromagnetic torque computed by two rotor flux estimators. In the first approach, the Kalman filter is used assuming that the mechanical velocity is known. The second approach uses Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for speed estimation. Simulation and experimental results show the robustness of the EKF and the great capability of these two methods to detect this type of faults.
