Maglev projects: Status and application fields

| Abstract |
After thirty years of development, the magnetically levitated railway system (Maglev) is going to be
utilized for commercial applications. The present status of its technology is summarized with the
operational results of prototype vehicles at the full-scale test track. The practical use of its component
technology in transportation systems and the development work for new types of systems are also
introduced. The worldwide plans and studies of their application are described, focusing mainly on
realizability. |
