| Abstract |
This paper introduces a new modular multilevel converter (M2LC) topology suitable for very high voltage applications, especially network interties in power transmission. The fundamental concept, the applied control scheme and simulation results of a 36MW–network intertie are presented. With reference to the expenditure of components, a comparison between the new modular multilevel converter and a conventional converter topology is given. A suitable structure of the converter control is proposed. |
