The ZVS, quasi-ZCS converters, a family of topologies with an optimal current waveform for high frequency switching

Abstract |
An optimal current waveform for high frequency switching is proposed. This waveform combines
Quasi-ZCS with reduced voltage during a turn-off of a switch, and ZVS at a turn-on of a switch. This
results to a substantial reduction of a converter switching loss and hence improves the efficiency. A
number of topologies that belong to the family of ZVS, Quasi-ZCS converters is identified and
investigated with respect to the proposed waveform. As part of the family, new output filter resonant
topology is introduced. Based on simulations, the proposed topologies are compared amongst each
other. Case studies are presented with emphasis on converter efficiency. |
