An Efficient Production Planning Algorithm for Multi-head Surface Mounting Machine Using the Immune Algorithm

Abstract |
The biological immune algorithm (BIA) is based on the immune system of human biology. Our objective is to minimise the PCB assembly time on the multi-head surface-mounting machine. Unlike convention approaches, which have dealt with reel assignment and pick-and-place sequencing problems separately, we considered them concurrently and did not specify the number of heads. First, the proposed partial-link BIA method is applied to the single-head case and then it is extended to multi-head case by regarding a reel-group as one reel and a component-cluster as one component. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to the heuristic algorithm currently in use in industry. |
