This paper deals with a simple method to design two fuzzy controllers of a fully digital dc motor drive. The control system has a cascade structure: the outer loop controller realises the usual speed control, while the inner loop one is used to control the armature current. The design method is based on physical relationships of dc machine. The use of fuzzy controllers increases the robustness of the drive to external disturbances, parameter and load variations. The inherent non-linear characteristics of the fuzzy controllers make it possible to obtain fast and accurate tracking of rotor speed references, and to control armature current without exceeding its limit value. |
