Abstract |
Universal motors are still often applied in consumer apparatus. The main reasons are low cost and low
weight, which make these motors also attractive for an electrically assisted bicycle. In order to
evaluate the use of universal motors for this application, a soft switching converter was designed to
supply these high voltage motors, starting from a 24V battery. This paper describes the operation of
this converter type, and shows some experimental results. In the second part of the paper, the
implementation of the converter on an electrically assisted bicycle is described. |
