Abstract |
A high-efficiency electronic ballast is designed to drive the fluorescent lamp with dimming operation by frequency control. An auxiliary resonant circuit is added to the load resonant inverter to reduce both conduction losses and switching losses of the active power switches, leading to a relatively high efficiency over the dimmable range. The design equations are derived by fundamental approximation based on a power-dependent resistance model of the lamp. A design example with experimental results is provided for illustrating the circuit performance. |
